Board Biographies

Nina Barwell: B.M., New England Conservatory of Music: Fulbright-Paris, France. M.M. S.U.N.Y., Stony Brook. Teachers include James Pappoutsakis, Jean-Pierre Rampal and Samuel Baron. N.Y. debut at Carnegie Recital Hall. Soloist with the Boston Pops. Active free lance performer. Festivals: Tanglewood, Bach Aria Festival. Performed with the San Diego Symphony, Springfield Symphony. Former faculty member University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, Ohio University, Boston University. Faculty New England Conservatory of Music-Extension Division and Tufts University; member of the Nashua Symphony Orchestra. She will be performing "An Evening of Flute Chamber Music" with Elizabeth Davis, and Elizabeth McGlinchey on July 20, 2001 at 8:00 p.m. at the Follen Community Church Unitarian Universalists, 755 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA. Admission is free.

Peter H. Bloom, freelance flutist, has performed with diverse ensembles including the Aston Magna Festival Orchestra, Boston Renaissance Ensemble, Columbia's Musick, Ensemble Chaconne, Boston Cecilia, Hanover Chamber Orchestra, and (for 26 seasons) The Aardvark Jazz Orchestra (winner of the 2000 Independent Music Awards); and in solo recital at Jordan Hall, Early Music Society of Boulder, National Flute Association, Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He has recorded for SONY Classical, Dorian, Newport Classic, North Star, Revels, Soundjewel, Leo Lab, and other labels (over 20 CDs). He is a winner of the Noah Greenberg Award of the American Musicological Society for "distinguished contribution to the study and performance of early music." Mr. Bloom received a Master of Music with distinction from the New England Conservatory of Music and a BA in philosophy from Boston University. His teachers include Robert Willoughby, Stephen Preston, Sandra Miller, James Pappoutsakis, and David Hart.

Danielle Boudrot is the founder and music director of The Massachusetts High School Flute Choir. She conducted the National High School Flute Choir at the 2000 National Flute Association's 28th Annual Convention in Columbus Ohio and guest conducted The National High School Flute Choir at the 1999 National Flute Association's 27th Annual Convention in Atlanta Georgia. Danielle is currently principal flute with The Lexington Sinfonietta and has also performed with The Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra, The New Philharmonia Orchestra of Massachusetts, The Newton Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Pro Musica, The Boston Summer Festival Orchestra and The Harmonie Chamber Winds. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music as a student of Robert Willoughby and is presently on the music lesson extension faculty with the Lexington Public schools.

Jacqueline DeVoe is an active freelancer in the Boston area and performs regularly with Cantata Singers, the Boston Ballet, and many other ensembles. In addition to her degrees in Boston at New England Conservatory, she was a two time recipient of the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund grant and completed a diploma at the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna, Austria. A Tanglewood Fellow, Ms. DeVoe is the former principal flutist of the Mexico City Philharmonic, has performed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and has been presented in solo and chamber music concerts in Europe, Mexico and the US. In addition to her private flute studio, she is on the faculty of New England Conservatory Extension Division and the New School of Music in Cambridge. A strong advocate of music education in public schools, Ms. DeVoe is a member of North Winds, the Young Audiences’ woodwind quintet which presents educational concerts in schools throughout Massachusetts.

John Ranck is principal flute with tne Melrose Symphony Orchestra. A frequent recitalist both in this country and abroad, he was co-principal flute with the New England Philharmonic for many years and has also appeared with such orchestras as the Faust Festival Orchestra,Dornach, Switzerland, the Dance Theater of Harlem Orchestra, and the Civic Orchestra of Boston. His Doctor of Music degree is from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Thomas Nyfenger. As graduate assistant to Samuel Baron, he earned his Master of Music from SUNY Stonybrook. He is past President of the James Pappoutsakis Flute Competition, advisory board member of the Greater Boston Flute Association and has recorded on London Records.
